After you do a marathon you go to work on Monday morning with a slight limp and you tell everyone who will listen every excruciating detail--about how your sock got bunched up by mile 13 and you thought the blister was going to break you, and then at mile 19 you almost slipped on a banana peel, and some annoying guy was running while bouncing a basketball the whole time and you just couldn't shake him, and so on.
So here I go with my sock and banana stories...
- Go back through your blog posts with your thoughts/ideas about mobile devices and apps. Has anything changed as a result of this experience?
I'm happy I participated and tried new things. I used to treat the apps on my phone like gold and wouldn't download anything unless I was absolutely certain I wanted it. This experience helped me get out of that mindset.
- What were your favorite Things and discoveries?
I always wanted to explore Spotify but just never invested the energy. I just paid for a premium membership and currently am enjoying the Indie radio station as I type. I also got a free chromecast for signing up for Spotify. When my tech consultant (aka 16 year old son) gets home I'm going to have him get us set up with it.
- How did you connect with others doing the 19 Mobile Things?
I really enjoyed reading other people's blogs. I also had a reason to get on Instagram and now I have an excuse for following my daughter.
- Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
You can do a lot of things with your phone! I'm not yet typing papers and creating slideshows with my phone but when I watch my son do all of his homework on his phone I have a better understanding and appreciation. I think the voice capture with google and google docs could be really cool as a student.
- What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or content?
You guys rocked! Thank you Ellen, Jessica, Meredith, Lynnette, Cathi, Rosa, and everyone else who worked on this. It's been lots of fun.
- If we offered another 19 Things program like this in the future would you participate?
Absolutely. I'd love to hear people's ideas for more 19 Things. How about 19 devices? or 19 pieces of equipment in our own building?
- How would you describe your learning experience in one word or in one sentence, so we could use your words to promote 19 Things learning activities to others?
A great opportunity for experiential learning!
